Scout Permit Assessment Day

We are holding an assessment day for water based Scout Activity permits at Green Withens on Saturday 13th May from 10.00am.

Subject to demand there will be the opportunity to be assessed for:-
• Dinghy SailingCorporate Logo
• Powerboating
• Bellboating
• Traditional Rafting
• Pulling
• Rowing & Sculling
• Canoeing
• Kayaking

How will the day be organised?

This will depend upon the number of applicants, but all assessments will involve going on the water in appropriate craft.

Do I need previous experience?

No but it may take more than a single day to achieve the proficiency required to be recommended for a permit. Training will be given, particularly in rafting, Bellboating and pulling. If further training or experience is needed we will agree an action plan or further sessions.

What do I need to bring?

Firstly some lunch and something to drink. Green Withens has changing rooms and toilets but no drinking water. You also need a complete change of clothes including footwear and a towel. Even in May it can be cold, particularly on the water, so warm clothing and a waterproof outer is important.

What will it cost?

There will be no charge; however any donations to Green Withens will be gratefully received.

Is this just for West Yorkshire Leaders?

No, it is open to anyone involved in Scouting irrespective of which County they are involved with.

What should I do next?

If you would like to come for an assessment, please email Peter (peter@greenwithens.org.uk) as soon as possible briefly detailing what you would like assessing for and you previous experience.
