Guides

Guides, Rangers and Adult members of Girlguiding UK are all welcome to participate in any of our courses or activities. However, members should make themselves aware of Guirlguiding UK rules governing watersports, considering the following:

  • Guides are welcome at Green Withens, but they must first obtain the approval of the relevant Guide Commissioner.
  • Green Withens is a Scout water sports centre managed by West Yorkshire County Scouts.
  • It is operated in accordance with Scout Association rules and guidance.
  • All the staff are DBS checked.
  • Our staff operate using Scout Association Activity Permits. (Permit holders have been assessed by a Scout County Assessor who holds NGB qualifications).
  • Many of our staff also have current NGB coaching qualifications, but certainly not everyone.
  • We are not a commercial centre or AALA (Adventurous Activity Licensing Authority) licenced.
  • All our equipment is insured through the Scout Association, and all the staff are covered by liability insurance, however there is only personal accident insurance for members of the Scout Association.
  • Risk assessments and operating procedures are available upon request
